Monroe Park
This 7.5-acre park, a popular hangout spot for VCU students, is one of Richmond's oldest and most historically significant public spaces.
A dynamic urban environment
It can be hard to tell where VCU ends and the city begins — and we wouldn’t want you to.
Our two main campuses are located a mile away from each other, both in downtown Richmond. The Monroe Park Campus is home to most of our undergraduate students and their classes. Our health sciences schools and college (six in all) and top-rated medical center are located on the MCV Campus. Both boast a mashup of old and new architecture, and a round-the-clock energy that never quits.
Places to know
When you’re a VCU student, these frequently visited spots will quickly become familiar haunts.
The Commons
Think of this as VCU's living room. The Commons is a central hub to hang out, eat in the food court, play pool or video games, or catch a movie at the theater.
Institute for Contemporary Art
Opened in 2018, this modern masterpiece houses changing innovative exhibitions, films and special programs.
Siegel Center
The Siegel Center is home to VCU basketball and some of the nation's most zealous fans. It's also hosted the likes of James Taylor, the Harlem Globetrotters and President Barack Obama.
Cabell Library
Cabell Library offers students, faculty and other visitors flexible work and study space, a full-service Starbucks, a reading porch, a makerspace and loads of natural light.
Larrick Student Center
This combination gym and student center on the MCV Campus lets students work out, go for a swim, sip a coffee at Starbucks or meet up with other students.
Getting around
Thanks to our urban location, you have plenty of options to get from point A to point B.
Richmond city bus
Students, faculty and staff can ride any GRTC bus for free, including the Pulse and Route 5, both of which provide an easy way to travel between VCU’s two campuses.
RamSafe
Our late-night shuttle service will pick you up and drop you off anywhere on campus or at nearby locations.
RamBikes
The RamBikes shop offers free bike rentals and repairs, do-it-yourself bike repair classes, and other bike-friendly events.
Alternative Transportation
ZipCars, e-scooters, RVA Bike Share and area transit services — take your pick and leave your car at home.
